Following the principle of the 9-Euro ticket the Deutschlandticket is available for purchase on May 1st 2023, as an affordable way to travel in Germany. The Deutschlandticket will be available for 49 euros per month in form of a subscription.

Here you can find all the information we currently have on the Deutschlandicket. Even though, not all of the details are completeley clear, we try our best to keep you up to date with the news.

Advantages of the Deutschlandticket:

• The ticket is valid on all vehicles of public transport, but not for long distance travels.
• It is a subscription and can be cancelled monthly.
• The ticket will be a digital ticket or an eTicket.

For everybody who already has an annual ticket subscription, or is thinking about getting one

If you already have, or are interested in an annual ticket don’t be alarmed. As it already was with the 9-Euro ticket, we want our customers to benefit from the Deutschlandticket. Please do not cancel your current subscription, until all the details concerning the Deutschlandticket are fully disclosed. 

The Deutschlandticket is now available for pre-orders in the NürnbergMOBIL-App or our Onlineshop.

Would you like to recieve advice on the Deutschlandticket in person, or you don't have online access? We will be in different parts of Nuremberg at various times. Just drop by. 

We are happy to assist you with buying the ticket online. You can chose to recieve the ticket as a digital ticket on your phone, or as a chipcard in a letter. All you need to bring along are your bank details and some personal information.

Naturally, you can also come to our Kundencenter at the main train station Nuremberg. In order to skip long waiting times, please apply for a consultation appointment. 

 

FAQs for customers with an annual ticket, the Semesterticket, the 365-Euro-Ticket VGN and the Solo 31 Nürnberg-Pass

I already have an annual VGN ticket. How can I benefit from the Deutschlandticket?

Subscribers do not have to cancel their current subscription.

 If you pay more than 49 Euro per month for your ticket subscription, you won't have to do anything. We will turn your ticket automatically into a Deutschlandticket starting May 1st 2023. You will receive more information about the process in a letter. 

If you pay less than 49 Euro per month for your subscription, unfortunately an automatic switch to the Deutschlandticket is not possible. We will contact all of our subscribers via a letter and inform them about an easy way of switching to a Deutschlandticket digitally. 

Is my eTicket automatically valid as the Deutschlandticket?

If you only want to use your Deutschlandticket in the Greater Nuremberg Area (VGN) you don't have to do anything. Our members of staff on the buses can check your chipcard and find out, whether you are entitled to the Deutschlandticket. When this is done with one of our chipcard readers, the data on your card will automatically be updated. If you want to use your eTicket outside the VGN it is neccessary to update your chipcard once before at one of our chipcard readers. From April 10th onwards all of our busdrivers, ticket inspectors, our staff in the VAG Kundencenter Nuremberg and the ESTW-Kundencenter in Erlangen will be happy to assist you with this. Once this is done you can use your eTicket outside the VGN. The update needs to be done just once.

What if I already have a Semesterticket?

The Semesterticket Basiskarte cannot be turned into a Deutschlandticket.

If you already purchased the Semesterticket Zusatzkarte before April 12th you will receive an online voucher with a code via e-mail. Using this code enables you to turn your Zusatzkarte into a Deutschlandticket.

If you purchased the Semesterticket Zusatzkarte after April 12th you will recieve a voucher for the Deutschlandticket immediately.

If you purchase your ticket via the NürnbergMOBIL-App you will automatically receive two tickets, one for the Zusatzkarte and one for the Deutschlandticket.

This service is only valid during the summer term 2023. From the winter term 2023/24 onwards a Deutschlandticket must be purchased directly.

The ticket is not available as a print out version.

What about the 365-Euro-Ticket VGN? Is it also valid as a Deutschlandticket?

No, the 365-Euro-Ticket VGN is only valid in the VGN area and cannot be used as a Deutschlandticket. The county of Bavaria has, however, announced that they are working towards a discount for students and apprentices. The Deutschlandticket is supposed to be available then for 29 Euro, presumably starting in September.

What about the Solo 31 Nürnberg-Pass?

Currently we don't have any information on this topic. As soon as we know we will update this site.

Where can I purchase the Deutschlandticket?

You can buy the Deutschlandticket starting April 3rd 2023 in our NürnbergMOBIL-App and in the VGN Onlineshop.

When will the Deutschlandticket be valid?

The ticket is supposed to be released on May 1st 2023.

How much does the Deutschlandticket cost?

The ticket is supposed to cost 49 euros per month. The subscription can be cancelled monthly.

How can I pay for the Deutschlandticket?

Your monthly subscription will be taken directly from your bank account. 

Can I transfer the Deutschlandticket to another person?

No, the ticket is bound to the person purchasing it. 

Where is the Deutschlandticket valid?

The ticket will be valid on public transport vehicles all over Germany, like the 9-euro ticket. The vehicles include city and regional busses, regional trains, undergrounds and trams. Long distance travel trains of the Deutsche Bahn like IC or ICE are not included in the ticket. 

Further, the ticket is valid 24 hours 7 days a week.

Is the Deutschlandticket only available as a subscription?

Yes, the Deutschlandticket is only available as a subscription.

Can I take other people along with my ticket?

Regarding the most recent information other people cannot be taken along with the ticket. If you like to take other people, dogs or bicycles along a separate ticket must be purchased. 

How long will the Deutschlandticket be valid?

The government aims to offer the Deutschlandticket long term. At the moment it is supposed to be in use for the next two years, afterwards there will be new discussions about the future of the Deutschlandticket.

Will I receive free minutes for the VAG_Rad with the Deutschlandticket?

Yes. If you purchase the ticket via our NürnbergMOBIL app you will receive 600 minutes for free for the VAG_Rad. Customers who already have a subscription ticket will also receive 600 minutes for free in case of a switch to the Deutschlandticket. 

What happens when I lose my eTicket/chipcard?

If you happen to lose your eTicket or chipcard a new card will be given to you. If you need a new chipcard more than once we will have to ask for a 10 Euro fee. As the safest way to keep your ticket we recommend purchasing it via the NürnbergMOBIL-App.
